‘The highest form of knowledge is empathy’ and if one can develop the powers of empathy and imagination, the whole world opens up like a budding blossom of the season. I strongly believe that with rapid technological progress, life with all its essence is turning grossly mechanical and thus it is robbing away all necessary values and emotions. Our children who are our future are moving towards a dystopian world. It is at this crucial juncture that empathy comes in with its redeeming quality to usher in a better future for our children.
Empathy being a distinct feature of a life governed by moral code of conduct can stimulate the holistic upliftment of a learner. Schools need to strive in inculcating such values through an ethically governed and nurtured ambience. Today the role of schools is not to just pursue academic excellence but to empower students to evolve as critical & ethical thinkers of 21st century. This is only possible through a holistic and learner centric environment that is carefully nurtured in Army Public School Barrackpore. The school aims to teach the students that empathy does not end when one cares for one’s friend or acquaintances but the real achievement comes when one can feel and care for a random stranger.
Every learner should be transformed into a self-reliant and independent citizen in relation to the emotional, academic and social aspect. We here at school strive to provide the same through a balanced amalgamation of scholastic and co-scholastic activities.
From interactive teaching methods to a healthy student-teacher relationship, our institution endeavours to excel from strength to strength. Hence empathy based education can enable an institution to foster quality learning environment. And thus I do earnestly urge all my dear students, the teaching fraternity and parents as well to proactively extend their warm hands and heart steeped in empathy that will enable us to nurture a compassionate and radiant future for our next generation.
